1 can(21oz) cherry pie filling
1 package (18 1/4 oz) yellow cake mix
1/2 cup (1stick) butter, melted
1/3 cup chopped walnuts
whipped topping or vanilla ice cream (optional)
place pie filling in crock-pot. mix together cake mix and butter in medium bowl. spread evenly over cherry filling. sprinkle walnuts on top. cover; cook on low 3 to 4 hours or high 1 1/2 to 2 hours. spoon into serving dishes, serve warm with whipped topping or ice cream, if desired.
**note** when mixing butter and mix, pour half of the mix in the bowl with half of the butter, mix together and then add the rest of the mix and butter and stir until mix and butter are combined. also, you can extend the cooking times about 30min. this will work with any other pie filling and cake mix. DH's favorite is spice cake with apple filling.
